Move DOCUVALUE table to a different filegroup

Hi,

We want to store documents in AX Database but we are wondering if could be better to move DOCUVALUE table to a different filegroup in a new disk in order to avoid performance and space issues.

Anyone has tried? Any considerations we should take into account?

Thanks

Container and Image fields in AX are stored in Large Binary Objects (LOB data) which is not easy to relocate.

I have found this script to be very useful when we have decided to split up our database across multiple files and filegroups:

Initially we have separated LOB data to a different LOB filegroup, but then we have finally decided to distribute evenly instead across the multiple file groups together with the main data. The design is up to you depending on the number of IO paths you are able to grant for each database file/disk. In our case the underlying disk solution was similar to the Azure BLOB-storage, so it is on a block level and IO paths are not relevant, so for us keeping it all together and just logically separating the files for parallel CPU calls seemed more logical. If you are more like in a SAN-situation, splitting it out could work for you, however test it thoroughly first.
