Batch Disposition Code vs. Inventory Status?

I see that in AX 2012 R3 with the new WAX module, Batch Disposition codes are still available in the Inventory Management module. Inventory Status is a new function in the WAX module, which seems to do the same thing, marking inventory as available or not-available. Is there a difference between the two that I'm missing or do they perform the same function?

    Hi Cole,

    The new Inventory status is more than related to only Batches. You can use it to mark certain Items, Inventory Locations or a complete warehouse. It could be related to a batch but not neccessarely.

    In most cases you will have at least the Status Available and Blocked.

    So if I use inventory status, I then theoretically wouldn't need to use batch disposition codes at all?

    Hi,

    I'm not sure about all features. The Inventory status is part of the storage dimensions; the Batch number is a tracking dimension.

    Depending on all your requirements it could be replacing it. But I'm not familiar with all your business processes.
