Backflushing with Partial Quantities

Posted on by 1,495

Hello,

I have everything setup in my Manufacturing setup to backflush.  I understand all components are issued when the status of the production order is changed to Finished.

What happens if I'm only trying to receive a partial quantity?  For example, the production order is for 10 widgets.  Eight widgets have been produced.  How to I just receive eight?  If I simply finish the order, all 10 units will be recorded as finished.

Also, I'm not seeing any labor from my routing recorded when I change the status to Finished.  I reviewed the Detailed Calculation Report and confirmed my Routing Cost and Material Cost are adding up correctly.

Thanks,

Steve

    Hi,

Are you using the output journal for posting of produced items? in your case, it is recommended to post the output of produced items from the output journal to record the actual output quantity. so if only 8 are produced then the output will be 8 only.

Now, come to a part of the consumption where you want to consume the component according to the produced items only rather then the full amount of production order quantity on finishing the production order. for this, I recommend to use the routing link. you can set the routing link between the production bom and routing. for an example you can set routing link code to all bom items and same code get linked to the last operation of your routing. this setup will help you to post the consumption on posting of output and will avoid to post the consumption on finishing the production order.

so, if you post the 8 quantity of parent for the last operation of routing in output journal system will calculate the consumption quantity according to it and post the consumption automatically for all those items which flushing method is set to backward.

this will help to maintain your inventory qty real time. this also help in environment where partial output get produced and remaining will be post later from the production order.

I hope this information will help you.
