Teams Webinar Recording not auto playing after Event has ended

After finsihing a Teams Webinar Event, the recording is successfully available in Teams and works when i press play.

For my CJ, about an hour after then Event time has ended, i send a sorry you missed it Email with the "Join in Teams" button connected to the Event.
Basically this gets sent to everyone who registered and bu clicking the now "On-Demand" button (Join in Teams) Link, i expected that when they clicked this and came into the Event that the Webinar i recorded would automatically start to play.

But no, it just joins everyone into the meeting that has already finished!

Am i missing something?

    Hi Chris,

Thank you for sharing the feedback from Dev teams.

I agree with you that it could be certified so that more people are aware of the information.

    Hi Nya,

My workaround with sharing the Video URL is currently the only way to offer this post event "on-demand" feature for the time being.

Your Teams & 365M Dev teams have confirmed that they will add "auto-play" feature after event had ended in a future update, but no date has been given.

Maybe we make this verified so others will know going forward?

    /Chris

    Hi Chris,

I personally agree with you. And auto-play would be a very handy feature.

But unfortunately, that's the scope of the Teams app, I can't help you much more.

RE: Teams Webinar Recording not auto playing after Event has ended

    Hi Nya,

The big problem with not having auto-play webinar is that the only way to offer this is to share the recording URL and past it into an Email with a url button.
This can only be done after the event has ended.
This means that an event CJ which included pre-event invites, confirmations, reminders and post webinar event nurturing will now not work. This means that we are forced to change our Event CJ templates and make new Pre-Event and Post Event CJ's  to able to provide this functionality which we HAD with Teams Live Events. So this is a big step back!

    Hi Chris,

Here is the User Voice forum for Teams:

    Welcome to UserVoice!

Maybe you can post your idea on it and drive it to be improved.

Hi Nya, seems you are right and this auto-playing the recording after the event like it did with Teams Live Events has not been added to Teams Webinars.  This is a BIG MISS in functionality with other platforms that automatically offer "watch on-demand" directly after the webinar had ended.

The only option we now have is to edit the permissions on the MP4 file and share this link with a URL button on a follow-up email. These links will anyway only last 6 months before disappearing.

RE: Teams Webinar Recording not auto playing after Event has ended

    Hi Chris,

According to my test, the auto record option will be synced to Teams without pressing "Sync with Teams".

And it seems have nothing to do with the issue which is about auto playback the recording.

Hope the support case could solve your issue soon.

    Thanks for the sharing.

RE: Teams Webinar Recording not auto playing after Event has ended

    Hi Nya,

We have opened a support case.  There is something definitely wrong.
In addition to logging in registered users to an event that ended, (no video playing) i also forwarded the Email with the check-in link to someone who didn't register and they were able to login to the ended event.

Something seems very wrong with the post event behavior within 365M.

Another tip you might want to post about is that you MUST press "Sync with Teams" when setting the Teams Webinar options inside the 365 event module or these are NOT passed into Teams.
EG. Auto record webinar will not work if its not synced.

RE: Teams Webinar Recording not auto playing after Event has ended

    Hi Chris,

    No, there is nothing missing.

It is the expected behavior because the "Join in Teams" link itself is to join a Teams meeting and not to play the recording automatically.

Also, I didn't find any documentation on Teams' support for automatic playback of recordings.

Of course, in case of my lack of knowledge of Teams, it is recommended to post your issue to Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Tech Community.
