Marketing Templates from Sandbox to Production

Hi there!

My customer has a Dynamics 365 Marketing Non-Production Instance AND a Production Instance of the App. Some questions I have:

Solution awareness:

  • Are templates solution-aware? (I don't think so, but would appreciate some guidance as to how to "move" Customer Journey Templates from Non-Production to Production without recreating from scratch).
  • How can I move certain settings from Non-Production to Production without recreating from scratch? For example: Content Management Settings.

Insight Analytics: docs.microsoft.com/.../custom-analytics

I understand that Profile data is stored in the database (which you can access directly), and Interaction data is stored in the marketing-insights service database (which you can't access directly):

  • Where are the actual emails stored? (My customer currently uses ClickD which is chewing up all of their tenant capacity)
  • The customer currently has a daily Azure SQL backup running of certain entity records from D365 for reporting. Would they be able to include the Emails sent AND Interaction data in this? (I think not, but not 100% certain what is possible).

Thank you for helping me figure this out!

    Hi,

Have you tried to transfer the data between environments with ConfigurationMigration tool?

Here is a documentation about how to transfer data with it:

Move data between environments (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs

    • The templates are recorded in the entities of the environments. And some settings, such as the “Content Management Settings” you mentioned, which should be Content Settings, are also recorded in the entities and can be transferred in the same way.

    • Marketing emails are stored in the Marketing Email entity.

    • Interaction records (such as email clicks and website visits) and files (such as those used in emails and marketing pages) aren't included when you copy, backup, or restore an environment.

The above statement can be found in this documentation:

Manage marketing environments (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,

    Nya
