Dynamics AX handles doing business as (DBA) trade name ?

Hi All,

 Does Dynamics AX can handles Trade Names? Like Company doing business as "MyName" so that Invoices or checks may be generated displaying the trade names?

Please suggest your comments on this.

    Isn't this simply a question of how you design your reports, checks, forms, etc.?

    I am sure you must aware about Trade Name. I was not aware before so i read this.

    I meant , for example a "companyA"  doing business as other name let say "VisvashWalia" so that sales Invoice or Freetext Invoice or checks  displaying the trade names?

    Please suggest if it is possible with Dynamics AX.

    For a Legal entity you may provide Legal entity Name, Full name, Search name values by default, which could all be different by choice.

    Also you may provide multiple Business addresses for a Legal entity, which has a Name or Description field.

    From that point it is up to you how you customize your reports to show which address information, or place which name value where.

    By default it is the CompanyInfo.Name (comes from DirPartyTable, check Table type hierarchy), you can verify it under \Classes\SalesInvoiceDPBase\init method. It is easy to change around for exapmle if you want it by Business address name as trading name.

     Is it possible , for instance ,We have a one Legal entity with name TestA so we need to be able to work under both the name "TestA" and "TestB" .

    Please suggest me.

    You mentioned that you want to have the trade names TestA and TestB printed on your documents.

    What is the link or trigger for this printing if you work in a single legal entity?

    Can you bind this for example to a business unit or any other element in AX?

    Thanks Ludwig,

    TestA is name of Legal Entity (registered Name) and TestB is let say a trade name . So can it possible to work with both name?

    Same answer I gave above. You could easily implement it, easiest way is to change CompanyInfo tables' .name() method to return both values. That would not need a change on most reports, and you could show 2 company names.

    Hi Vilmos & Ludwig,

    I came here with some more details and would like to have your suggestion if it is feasible ?.

    1.There is one legal entity let say "CompanyA". And "CompanyB" (which will be used as DBA name) is already setup in Internal Organization( as cost Center). So he want something in SalesOrder details form so user can select a check box(customized flag) whether he want LegalEntity name or DBA Name on salesInvoice. If this checkbox checked, there should be a dropdown list  for selecting internal Organization. 

      2. Can we store image for Internal Organization just like Legal Entity? so if user has selected DBA (or Internal Organization) on salesOrder then salesInvoice would show Internal Organization Logo instead of legal entity logo. is it feasible?

    3. How can i get the address of Internal Organization on salesInvoice? Do i need to setup Multiple business address on Legal Entity as Vilmos suggested or should i use address on Internal Organization form itself and get the address from there?

    Please suggest your comments or suggest best approach on this.

    They are possible, it would be a couple of customizations i.e. SalesEditLines form and underlying classes to pass on the value of your checkbox and dropdown selection. It is up to you how/where you store the image, I would probably create a separate table for this. You may also try the multiple business address approach, or try to connect it against the Cost center dimension values if that is what will drive your logic.
