Possibility to block an item for ordering?

Hi all,

Is it possible to block an item for ordering via a purchase order (or other situation is that MRP doesn't create a planned order) but you can still manage the item in your warehouses?

(Handy for items that won't be produced anymore by the supplier)

Thanks a lot!

In AX2009, you can stop all Purchase order related transactions for an item by checking the checkbox "Stopped" under Item details > Setup button > Default order settings > Purchase order tab.  You can stop MRP from creating Planned order by putting the Item in a Coverage group with a Coverage code of Manual.  Both will still allow you to create inventory transactions.

    Thanks for the answer.

Indeed, for MRP is possible by set up another coverage group. However, the first part of your answer isn't clear for me because I'm working with AX 2012 and i see only the checkbox 'intercompany stopped' on the purchase order fasttab of the specific item (product), but this isn't the checkbox you meant...

Someone who does this know for AX2012?

    Hi Frederik,

To stop the item for purchasing in AX 2012, follow this navigation:

Product information management-->Common-->Released products-->Manage inventory (action pane tab)-->Default order settings-->Purchase order tab.

Check the 'stopped' check box under Other field group.
