Hi all,

I have two use case to configure on connection:
  1. I want to add a connection role of Former adviser for contact's that were advised by a user connection but have moved organisation (accounts)?
  2. I also want to make adding a connection a mandatory action when creating a contact?
Can I achieve both use cases using out of box configuration? If so, guidance on a solution would be helpful.

    Hi,

    For the first issue.
For the Former adviser connection role, the record types it connects to need to include the contact.

Then, you can use this role to add a connection for the contact.

    For the second issue.
You can create a workflow to achieve this.

You can specify a record to connect to.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li

    Hi @Dengliang Li

Thanks for your comments. For first issue: Just to clarify once I have configured the connection, record types and matching connection roles - how do I do this "you can use this role to add a connection for the contact" manually?

For second issue: within your workflow action - create connection do I just need to choose the contact table for connected To and not the connection role or both?

    Hi, @Sol007

The contact entity has a one-to-many relationship with the connection entity.

You can find the Connection entity in the related tab of the contact entity. Click ‘Connect’ to add a connection for this contact.

    For the workflow.
After testing, the ‘As this role’ field for Connected From and Connected To cannot be populated with roles at the same time.
Therefore, if both the contact and role are filled in for Connected From, only the contact needs to be filled in for Connected To.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li
