Relevance search not working properly

Hello,

I have enabled Relevance search in environment. I would like to know the behavior of relevance search when searchable keyword is present at 2 different fields of the separate records.

Suppose I have contact entity records in which there is data 'test' in full name of one record as well as it is present in one custom field 'xyz' of other record.

Both the fields full name and custom field 'xyz' are configured as part of Find Columns.

So when I search with 'test', then I should get data for both the records (one in which 'test' is part of full name and the other one where 'test' is part of custom field 'xyz'). However, I can see only one record as part of search results.

Can someone help me explaining this behavior?

Thank you.

    Hello,

Can you please confirm that you:

    1. Added both entities to the list of entities for "Relevance Search".

    2. Configured "Quick Find View" for both entities in the way of adding mentioned fields to "Find Columns", published "Quick Find View" and there are no additional criteria in "Quick Find View" that can drop your record from the search ("Edit Filter Criteria" functionality).

You can find more information here - docs.microsoft.com/.../configure-relevance-search-organization

RE: Relevance search not working properly

    Hi,

If the relevance search is enabled just before the search I would recommend to try the search after sometime. Else, please make sure that the missing record is searchable directly from the entity's quick find view and if missing record doesn't appear in quick find result as well then the filter criteria of the quick find view needs to validated.

Please go through the below article (section "Configure searchable fields for Relevance Search") and make sure unsupported Quick Find Filter operators for relevance search is not used.

It started working after some time. I published again after some time, and I could see the results.

    Thank you!

However, how can i search a date field, If I am adding a data for e.g. 24/08/2018, then the search result takes the input with '/' as word separator and gives me result which have wither 24 or 08 or 2018. How can I search a complete date in it is in format 24/08/2018?

RE: Relevance search not working properly

Expected behavior of Relevance search is to find all relevant matches of given search string, in this scenario while searching with date, it would get us the result of records whose find columns are containing 24, 08 and 2018.

If you would need to search date in global search as whole, then you would need to switch to "Categorized Search" in same screen as below.

    Hi Neeraj,

    Appreciate the help!

However, even though relevance search is used to find all relevant matches of given search string, it should still give the result with whole date '24/08/2018' as the search criteria is part of it. But I am unable to see any record which contains whole date.

RE: Relevance search not working properly

According to documentation, Relevance search looks only for text fields such as Single Line of Text and Multiple Lines of Text, Lookups, and Option Sets are searchable. Find Columns with other data types are ignored.

In this case result is not shown for '24/08/2018' since field data type would be Date and Time. Though this date field is added in find columns it would not be looked into in Relevance search.

    Reference Documentation: docs.microsoft.com/.../configure-relevance-search-organization

Hence, we would need to switch to "Categorized Search" in same screen for searching date fields efficiently.
