I'm using dynamics 365, i have a single text field that contains my clients Social Security Number, i would like it to show up as "***-**-****" when the field isn't selected.

Can anyone assist me please?

    HI,

Unfortunately that specifically isn't simply done in a supported way.  CRM doesn't have any OnFocus or OnBlur events that you can use.

Instead you can show/hide the SSN field based on a "Display SSN" (Yes/No) field, which you can do with a simple Business Rule.

    Cheers.

I know this is an old post, but I ran across it when searching for something similar.  You can leverage native Field Level Security to mask fields with asterisks from users you don't want to have access to that data.  This affects forms and views.
