Hello,

I have started to see the following user account "  # InsightsAppsPlatform" when looking at the audit history of a lead record.  Now what I don't know is where this user account came from and why it is showing up all of a sudden.  It is only in our production environment.  When I am looking at all users, nothing pulls up using that user name.  Any help is appreciated.

Lead records and seeing #InsightsAppsPlatform user account
    Hello CU31101219-0,

The appearance of the user account "# InsightsAppsPlatform" in your Dynamics 365 audit history, specifically related to lead records, indicates activity from a system account or a service principal associated with Dynamics 365 Customer Insights or related AI-driven features.

Here's a breakdown of what that account signifies and why it's showing up:

    Understanding # InsightsAppsPlatform:

    • System Account: This account is not a regular user account. It's a system account used by Microsoft's services to perform automated tasks and data processing.
    • Customer Insights/AI: It's primarily associated with Customer Insights (both Customer Insights - Data and Customer Insights - Journeys) and other AI-driven features within Dynamics 365.
    • Data Processing: The account is used for operations like:

      • Data enrichment.
      • AI-driven lead scoring.
      • Automated segment updates.
      • Activity insights.
      • Other background processes related to customer data analysis.

    • Production Environment: It's common for such system accounts to be more active in production environments, where real-time data processing and AI features are heavily utilized.

    •

    Why It's Showing Up Now:

    • Recent Feature Activation: If you recently enabled or configured Customer Insights features, AI-driven lead scoring, or similar capabilities, you'll see this account in the audit logs.
    • Background Processing: Even if you haven't made recent changes, these services perform periodic background processing, which can trigger audit log entries.
    • Microsoft Updates: Microsoft might have rolled out updates that involve increased activity from these system accounts.
    • Dataverse Plugins/Flows: If you have any plugins or power automate flows that are using AI prebuilt models, or customer insights data, these could be using this account to update data.

    •

    Troubleshooting and Investigation:

    1. Review Customer Insights Configuration:

      • Check your Customer Insights configurations for any recent changes or updates.
      • Look for segments, measures, or activities that might be triggering automated updates.

    2. Examine AI-Driven Features:

      • If you're using lead scoring or other AI features, investigate their configurations.

    3. Audit Log Details:

      • Carefully examine the audit log entries associated with "# InsightsAppsPlatform."
      • Look for specific actions or data changes that might provide clues about the source of the activity.

    4. Check Power Automate flows and plugins:

      • Check for any flows or plugins that are using the AI prebuilt models, or customer insights data.

    5. Microsoft Support:

      • If you're unable to determine the cause of the activity, contact Microsoft Support. They can provide more specific information about the system account and its activity.
