Dynamics Ax 2012. Doument types. Archive Directory "C:\temp"

Greetings

Everytime my Ax finance consultants set up a new Ax 2012 customer or company it seems like the form "Document types" 's field "Location" default value is "Archive directory" and "Archive directory" default value is "C:\temp". I don't know if it is default Microsoft values. They could maybe be a part of a default  Ax 2012 database we re-use. Pretty stupid default values I think.

What happens if my Ax finance consultants forget to change the "Location" value to "Database". Where are the documents created by the endusers when the "Location" value was "Archive directory" and "C:\temp"?

Yes I know there is a setup form for the "Archive directory"  value default value in the Ax system. But here the default value is also "C:\temp".

It puzzles me if no one else in the entire world has had this problem before.

Best regards,

Ebbe Jensen

    Hi Ebbe Jensen,

In D365FO the default is the azure storage linked to the D365FO machine.

As AX2012 is already quite old, I don't think that MS is going to fix that for that old version, which leaves it up to your development colleagues to change the default for the AX2012 system operated.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig

Thank you for your answer. My guess is that the documents are stored in the local clients "C:\temp" right? And if the Ax clients are Citrix based and Citrix gets cleaned regarding temporary files every day or week the documents are most likely gone? The original documents are the only hope then. But that may be difficult.

Yes, my development team should change the default values. If they weren't busy developing D365 :-)

    BR,

    Ebbe
