Hi All ,

AX 2012 R3

Each workflow has different conditions like Conditional decision , manual decision , sub workflow and parallel activity....

Could any one explain with an example of business that how to use the parallel activity condition in the workflow ?

    Hello Lally,

Consider the purchase requisition for the example. A is creating the PR and need to submit it for approval. His boss, B, is responsible to check that items belong to the same procurement category that's why he needs to check and approve the workflow. That is for one branch.

On the other hand, C, which is the budget responsible for the whole business unit (he's not directly the boss of A or B has to approve the total amount : if the total amount is < 5000 $, the workflow is automatically approved; otherwise he has to manually approve it. That is the other branch.

The two branch are in parallel because they are not linked.

For approving the workflow you need to have the two branches approved.

parallel activity is supposed to be used when activities/approvals are not dependent

    Example:

lets suppose if you have to get a membership of a club and this club has a rule 'approval should be taken from two persons'

Now in this rule it is not defined which person will approve first and which one second. you just need two approvals, which are not dependent upon each other.

In contrast to that, there may be situations where hierarchy is needed lets suppose if you are applying for leave, you need approval first from your immediate manager and then you can proceed your request to HR. if your manager is not willing to allow you leave, you may be rejected by HR as well , by rule you cannot directly skip your boss and reach HR.

in short parallel activity are not dependent upon each other
