I wanted to know to is there any difference if I choose javascript for showing or hiding the fields in instead of business rule?
Hi,
There is no difference. The advantage of using Business Rule is you don't need any developer to write the code. Any non-developer can also design Business rule.
Also, You don't need to modify your code when you get any request to change the logic. You simply update your business rule. You should always focus on no-code approach first for your requirement to reduce technical debt.
You should keep in your mind that not everything can be achieved using Business rule which can be done in javascript.

There would not be much difference the only difference would be JavaScript would be your custom code and the business rule is OOB functionality.
Now I would go with what the product provides because if in future any issue MS can help debug it but if its JS causing issue you will have to debug on your end as it would be custom.
And also, both Business rules and JavaScript execute as JS files only in the backend.
