Upgrade process NAV 2009 Classic to 2015

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello everyone,

I want to know what are the main steps we need to follow to upgrade a 2009 Classic client to 2015 version.

There are few developments in the table level and also have few modification in the form level as well. So how can we convert form to pages?

I would be glad if anyone can provide me the steps on how to do an what to do.

Thank you in advance.

I have not been able to use the transformation tool, all the materials I got online didn't help me either.

I will be grateful if you can help me on this.

    Thanks a head.

RE: Upgrade process NAV 2009 Classic to 2015

    Hi,

During a NAV 2015 upgrade, the data conversion (Upgrade form 104001 - Upgrade - Old Version) appears to delete all of the Job WIP Entry records.  When looking at the code in the upgrade (codeunit 104045 - Upgrade Nav Old Version), I can see there is an explicit call to delete all records:

Any inputs on why this is happening - like official documentation? And what should I do post upgrade i.e. run Calculate WIP for all Jobs (?).

    Thank you.

You can also merge only tables/codeunits etc. from 2009 to 2015 and do the data upgrade to 2015.

and you can add the customizations manually in pages and reports. (if less no. of customizations in forms and reports)

You have to estimate and decide which one will take less time.

    RE: Upgrade process

    hi,

    some fast suggestions.

    On NAV 2009 Classic

    > Activate "NAV Server available" on NAV 2009 Database (if you can, in this mode you can test converted object from classic to RCT)

    > Use Trasformation tools to convert customized forms to pages (if you have)

    > Convert reports in NAV 2009 RDLC if you have, or convert only report dataitems structure, no layout  (you can use Word Layout in NAV 2015 for Document Reports)
