I'm a newbie in Dynamics Ax and have mountains of quesions:

*What computer programmering language do you use to code new functionality in Ax? Is it C#?

*If ERP use C# as a coding lanuage, is it C# from winform or Windows presentation foundation?

*What is the main standard of IT architecture that Ax is using when you start implementing it in a company? N-tier with presentation, business and data layer?

*Does Dynamics have build in Microsoft Business Intelligence?

*What object-relational mapping (ORM) framework does it use to retrieve data from data layer to the presentation layer? Entity framework, Nhibernate, Dataset?

*If a customer has three database tool that is SQL server, Oracle and MySQL and these need to be used in Dynamics Ax, does  Ax has a tool in order to combine these database and its data into one unit? Maybe you need to use SSIS etc.

    Hello,

Some of your questions do not relate to AX, however in those circumstances i have directed you to the appropriate links to help with those questions. A vast amount of information is available on http://msdn.microsoft.com and http://technet.microsoft.com, which is where most of this information is coming from. Your answers are below:

    1. Dynamics AX Code functionality is coded in X++
    2. Referencing 1
    3. Due to it's complexity, i would rather refer you to this link, as describing the architecture would take a lot of text: Here
    4. Yes
    5. Referencing 3 - follow the links to find more detailed information
    6. No AX does not have this kind of tool, as combining those instances would be a very complex procedure. Whereas AX 2009 does support Oracle, AX 2012 does not:

'In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, you must create your Microsoft Dynamics AX database on Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 does not support creating the Microsoft Dynamics AX database on Oracle database server. All other databases, such as the databases that are used for Microsoft SharePoint 2010 products and Reporting Services, also require SQL Server' - quoted from Here.

I believe there is a tool however to export data from Oracle into SQL.

    Hope this Helps!

There are tools provided for writing and debugging customization code.  Typically customization code is written in X++ (the language that the ax forms and classes are written in), though it is also possible to create a c# assembly and call methods in it from an x++ class.

Dynamics AX comes with a premade analysis services database.  After the analysis services database has been deployed you can connect to it from excel, or create reports against it with other tools.  There are also numerous sql reporting services reports and a visual studio tools component which will let you design additional ssrs reports.

There should lots more info on developing for dynamics ax at msdn.  These pages have a bunch of links on development topics.  Hopefully that will get you started.

    ax 2009: msdn.microsoft.com/.../aa496080.aspx
