Warning when active new costing version in AX 2012 R2

Posted on by 237

Dear all,

I have created new costing version on 2020-March-04.

I changed session date to 2020-Feb-01.

Then, I active costing version, but I received some warning message as format below:

1. Price for cost price category xx-xxx was effective as per 2020-March-04. Current system date is of 2020-Feb-01. Record has been updated as effective from system date

2. Price for cost price category yy-yyy was effective as per 2020-March-04. Current system date is of 2020-Feb-01. Record has been updated as effective from system date

....

3. The calculation factor for xxxx-Indirect-Waste was effective as per 2020-March-4, Record has been updated as effective from system date.

4. The calculation factor for xxxx-Indirect-Utility was effective as per 2020-March-4, Record has been updated as effective from system date.

...

I try to create and post new route card journal, it calculate cost price correctly.

But I confuse that can this warning message make any problem for current data?

    Thank you for all support.

    No problem with this workaround.

    Hi Hoang,

as Ludwig suggest, the normal workaround is to change the session date.

    Hi Hoang

If you have pending transactions for which you backdated prices then the backdated prices should be taken provided that there is no other active price available before the date the transaction is posted.

If this price issue is business critical then I would recommend to simulate this activation and posting in a separate demo/test environment to be absolutely sure.

    best regards

    Ludwig

    HI Hoang,

You have to carefully test multiple scenarios to see if at the end the costing and ledger transactions are correct. As mentioned, I don't have experience with the costing versions using backdating prior to activate them.

    Dear Ludwig

    Thank you for reply.

I changed session date in the past(2020/02/01), I have already activated the costing versions.

If the data(posted route card journal) on 2020/02 registered on AX system, what is any problem with AX system if I activated new costing version on 2020/02/01?

    Regards,

    Hoang

    Dear Andre,

    Thank you for your reply.

We have plan to change cost price of Costing version from 2020/02/01.

However my end-user have already inputted the 2020/02 data.

So I must reverse the 2020/02 data and create new costing version effective from 2020/02.

When I active new costing versions, the warning message is displayed.

    Regards,

    Hoang

    Hi Hoang,

The warning basically says that your new cost price will be active immediately (=> your system date).

If you want to activate it on a specific date in the future then you can change the session date, activate it and then set the session date back again.

This 'trick' should do the job.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Hoang,

I have not changed cost prices with a date in the past. If the price is correctly calculated, then this might be OK. However, was it your intention to activate it on February 1? Have you checked if there was some revaluation was posted correctly for existing on-hand or WIP?
