How to restrict sales at POS if no inventory is available in store in Ax 2012 Retail

Hi,

In Ax 2012, we can restrict the normal sale if no inventory is available in Warehouse by keeping Negative Physical & Financial Inventory check box clear in Inventory Model Group.

My query is how can we restrict the Sale at POS if no inventory is available in store. While defining a new store, on Warehouse above two check boxes are available. But not sure whether they will restrict sale at POS or statement posting in HQ.

Thanks,

Dhananjay

There is 2 options to do this in AX and always has been

1 On the store warehouse there is an allow negative inventory functionality specifically to stop selling any 0 stock items at that store

Check the Physical negative inventory check box if negative inventory is allowed at warehouses and stores. This check box defines if the cashiers at the store can sell items even if Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail is showing negative physical inventory.

2  you can do this by specific items on the products retail tab

Select the Quantity becomes negative check box to indicate that the inventory can go negative

the option 2 mentioned above will not work as this indicate that each sold will be sold as -1

e.g, coupons , or security deposits

the first option however should be considered if absoulty necessory as the concept of Retail is Customer has something available in store to be sold, the bookkeeping / inventory on hand could be reconciled at day end. Plus Retail sync. data periodically not real time.

    Hi Dears,

You cannot restrict this on the POS, the check box mentioned above can be found in Item model group, Warehouse setup, and on the Item setup, this check box has nothing to do with the POS Sales transactions.

This checkbox is useful when it comes to posting statements only, or with customer orders.

We have developed a customization for the same need you have on the POS, so the cashier cannot sell unless there is available physical inventory in his/her store.

    Thanks & kind Regards,

Hi @Rakan, sounds interesting. I have a similar scenario. What steps did you take to achieve this.

    Thanks

This is not usually recommended, EG if you are out of stockand someone walks in with a return or you find extra stock the blocking will affect these too, if it was an item you wont sell again you can remove it from the stores product list! it depends on what your scenarios ar!
