MR will not connect - Access Denied and Permission Problem

A server move put the MR server into a new domain.  Once connected I did the whoami /user and took over an account with my domain\user account and SID replacing an active user.

My domain account is a local admin and a sysadmin within SQL.  It is also a member of General User for the MR databases and so are the current services.

Changes were made to the Security User and Security Principal table to update my account as an admin (role type 5)

Created new Application and Process Services using the network service (this was used prior).  Also had tried using the other options for service accounts.

Additionally, the @@servername was not correct so I did configuration for that to make sure it matches.

I also checked the system time to make sure the server system date and time were correct.

The thing is, when it was on the old domain it worked perfectly fine. Only since the server was acquired by a new corporation and moved to a new domain did it quit.

Microsoft support was brought in and had me run a SQL Profiler trace and found nothing out of the ordinary.

Also did a ipconfig /flushdns

They are requesting I put this out to the community for some additional suggestions.

You will need to open a case with MS and get the scripts to update several tables in regards to server name and SIDS.  Personally my suggestion would be log into MR on the old server and export the building blocks. Then on the server do a fresh installation of MR and then import the building blocks.

Hi Richard which scripts are you referring to?  The KB article when moving to a new domain?

this server is the old server just in a new domain.

    Thank you

I have run into this several times in the past. The problem is server names and SIDs are embedded in the Management Reporter database. I did one of these last month. I would get as far as deploying the datamart and then watch it fail. I would then send the results to MS.After exchanging scripts for the third time I finally got the DM deployed and MR went back to working. That is why exporting the building blocks and doing a fresh install would the least troublesome way of solving this.

Hi Richard, what I ended up doing to fix the problem was build myself a server in Azure.  When I did the EXACT same steps for replacing the domain, username, SID, the process worked fine and as expected in my sandbox.

So yes I uninstalled their MR and replaced it with a new one importing in the building blocks.  Yes they lost the public library but these are all new users in a new company so it didn't matter.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
