Export to Excel dynamic update

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

I have built several pivot tables to the exported excel spreadsheet and saved the report.  So that every time I refresh from NAV, the report automatically updates.  Now I need to add a couple columns to my export, but updating my source view does not update my Excel document.

Is there a way for this to happen without having to recreate everything in my Excel document?

If I understood your concern correctly, you need to change the properties of your pivot tables and modify the range of source data: support.office.com/.../Change-the-source-data-for-a-PivotTable-ad8ed968-ada1-4dde-9f72-30e07782dccd

    Agree with Alexander!

In addition, hope below link provides you useful information:

Thank you Alexander, Khoa. Unfortunately, your solution do not quite fits.

Yes, I am now aware how to change the range of the source data for the pivot reports.

But the source data (maybe I should not say data, but data structure instead?) itself is not being updated as in the modified page in NAV. The modification is simple - it is a new column , let's label it Delta. The pivot reports were build on the exported NAV list type page without Delta. The exported list has been kept for informational purpose in the excel as one sheet, and then other sheets were build for reporting in the same file. Data refresh works well in both, source sheet and report sheet (the "Refresh" buttons). And now I would like to include Delta in the source, so that I could use it in the pivots. I have simply added Delta to NAV page, but such modification does not update the view in the excel.

I have the same question - I want to add more "columns" to an already exported dynamic Excel file.  I used to be able to Edit Query in earlier versions but now I can't do that.

Still, as I understand, you do it in the following sequence:

    1. Export data from NAV to Excel to Sheet1.

    2. Build a pivot table in Sheet2.

    3. Add new column Delta to Sheet1.

If so, then at this stage your Pivot table in Sheet2 would not be updated. You need either to re-create your Pivot from scratch, or modify the range of NAV data used in the Pivot to expand it to your new column. From your explanation, I still have this understanding. Have I missed something?
