Expense category change

Hi Friends,

Accounting want to change "expense category" name, actually it's Category 'ID',  problem is there are existing transaction tied to it, you can't modify or delete, system won't let you do it.

How do deal with it? creating new and keep old one is one option, but it will create confusion for users.

    Hi River,

    I would create a new one and suspend the old one by deactivating the active in journals parameter.

    Everything else seems kind of risky and I would not go ahead with the renaming option (Example: Reports might show the old names and auditors might ask for details, etc.)

    Hi Ludwig,

    Thanks, it looks like an option, I did try to inactivate one live category with existing live transactions in review status, it went through final approval process without problem.
