Project Sales Order Concept

Hi All ,

AX 2012 R2

In the Project Module , we can create the Purchase order for Service item /physical against the Project , once you receive that system will consume that material( based on the parameter setup ) , then we will run the invoice proposal to post the invoice to customer , Same way time sheet and expense reports also

I could understand the functionality of post Purchase order (purchase invoice ), Time Sheet , Expense reports against the project and how we implement these functionality to clients .

But i am not clear about the project sales order , Post the project sales order , then open the invoice proposal then select that posted packing slip to post the invoice .

Could any pioneer explain the functionality of project sales order functionality with a client scenario ?

Thanks in advance

    Hi lally,

One scenario for using project sales orders would be if you purchase materials/goods and ship it to your project customer without the requirement to modify the materials/goods. To get the costs and revenue posted on the project you can use the ordinary sales order functionality and link it to a project. The only difference to an ordinary sales order is that you need to invoice the sales order through the project. Otherwise, the Revenue will not be recognized at the project level.

    Hope it helps,

    Ludwig

    Hi Visvash Walia,

It depends on what you sell and whether a packing slip is posted or not.

What kind of items / sales categories did you include in the project sales order?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig.

An old post, but we have following case. We want to send free goods to a customer via normal sales order. This because the sales department is always working with sales orders.

When we set the Project Category to not to charge, we aren't able to have see cost on our project when we post the packing slip. When the line property is 'chargeable', then we can make an invoice i.ex. of 'zero' and then we see cost on our project.

Sales invoices are created via fee lines because this is the most flexible way.

    Thank you for your answer

    Ially,

you would use the sales order to initiate a pick, pack & ship process for any physical items which must be delivered to a customer as part of the project. An example could be an IT infrastructure project which requires hardware to be delivered to the customer from a warehouse. the sales order would be used to reserve, pick, pack and ship the items from the warehouse to the end customer.
