In terms of functionality, what is the difference between the Contact information I can add to a customer on the 'Contact information' fast tab and the Contacts I can using the 'Add contacts' button (in the Accounts area of the Customer tab on the ribbon bar)?

    Hi Guy,

The "Contact information"Fast tab is usually used for business purposes like a first line of contact with that specific business. The Contact table (the ones you add with the "Add contacts button") is used  more for marketing and targeting purposes since you can have much more detailed information on it.

    Was this helpful?

    Kind regards,

    Josip

I would agree with Josip, the contact information is for the customer, the business etc. The contacts are the people you can contact, the real people. With the contacts as well as holding more information you can build up details of the organisation structure of the company assigning roles etc to these people and enhancing your contact with them. Also if you start to use campaigns these are people focused, sales orders and sales quotes also prefer contacts added - who is the person you will send this to rather than a generic company. So think of one as the main switchboard of the company, and the other as the person you actually want to talk to! The contact information tab also defaults the address to each contact if I remember, and it also has your default contact person.
