Hi all,
I am sending out a campaign activity (email) to contacts in a marketing list. My default signature is not added automatically even though I choose to distribute email messages as 'The owners of the records in the target marketing lists'.
Am I missing something in setting this up?

There is nothing you missed. It is by design. The signature couldn't be added automatically even if it is default. The signature would be added automatically when you add a new email activity and the From field(User/Queue) has default signature. You could refer to this doc: Create email signature in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises) | Microsoft Docs
And the setting 'The owners of the records in the target marketing lists' just change the owner of email. So you need to add it manually by now. Or you can add an email template with signature and use it when you distribute campaign activity.

If I understand correctly, even changing the setting from 'The owners of the records in the target marketing lists' to 'the owner of email' will not allow signature to be added automatically?
Can you pls explain under which conditions different user signatures can be added to an email based on the owner of the contact?

Yes, that's right.

Unfortunately, there is no setting to do this by now.
Don't include too much information.
Keep your color palette small.
Keep your font palette even smaller.
Use hierarchy to direct the eye.
Keep your graphic elements simple.
