SQL Query

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello! I would like to run a query in Excel to get data about outstanding invoices (at an historical date).

Of course I have a report in AX which does this in pdf. Can I somehow use the SQL query from the AX report in excel?

    Hi Johan,

Using AX2009 you can also save the report in HTML format and then open it using Excel. You have the option to save the report as one single large page from within AX, so you don't get the headers for each page.

Open AOT > form > open VendTrans form

make filter on balance field to exclude 0 values

make filter on invoice field to exclude empty records.

then Ctrl +E to export data to excel :)

    Hi

    ,

I will avoid to play lottery today ...

Maybe you can use the key shortcut "Ctrl +E". It will export your current form grid content to Excel.

you can not use the sql queries but yes through excel addin you can use AOT queries to fetch AX data in excel.

for your specific task you can use VendOpenInvoicesListPage AOT query, this will give you outstanding invoice list

on use of excel addin, link below will help you.

    Hi Johan,

Can you tell us which version of AX did you use ?

Considering you are using AX2012 version, you can take a look to the Office Add-ins, especially the Excel one.

Here you have a good blog on it: Using the Dynamics AX Excel Add-In
