Automatic profile questionnaires seeem not to be applied to the customers.

Hello. Good day everybody.

I prepared some profile questionnaires, some of them manual, some others automatic.

Our list of Contacts in Navision is made of lots and lots of Company types of Contacts.

When I try to apply the manual profile questionnaires to these contacts (Profiles button in the Navigate tab of the Contact Card ... etc.) everything is fine, that is the Edit- Contact Profile Answers window shows all the questions that have to be answered by ticking the checkboexes, which I can do ... etc .

But when I try to apply the automatic profile questionnaires the Edit - Contact Profile Answers window shows nothing, it's empty. That could even make sense to me as long as by clicking, for example, the Refresh button something happened, like a message popped up telling me the questionnaire had been automatically answered. Instead nothing happens and I have the feeling the automatic profile questionnaire hasn't been applied at all.

Is my feeling right or wrong ? In case it's wrong, where can I verify the questionnaire has been answered as I thought it's supposed to be ?

If instead my feeling is right, how can I apply these automatic profile questionnaires to these contacts, that is, what's the right path to follow ?

Many thanks in advance to everybody of you who will be able to help me.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you again.

When you say automatic, I assume you mean calculating sales, profit, etc., over the last 12 months from ledger entries.  If so then you may find Refresh isn't what you need.  In my version of NAV (2013 R2), I need to select the Profile Questionnaire and click Edit Questionnaire Setup and then do "Update Classification" from the Actions tab. It may be in a slightly different place depending on your version and/or Role Centre profile but I assume it's still called Update Classification.  At the moment I do it manually each month (or so) as we're not using it for much but I suspect it can be scheduled with the Job Scheduler one way or another.

    Hope that helps.

I used the Cronus example db.

Yes, Paul, your assumption about what I mean by automatic is correct.

In the Profile Questionnaires window I chose the one IDed by the 'CLIE' Code (this is the spanish Navision setup, so I guess in the English version that'll do 'CUST' or 'CUSTOMER').

And once opened its Profile Questionnaire Setup window, yes, the Update Classification button is where you said.

So I hit it and the Update Contact Classification window opened.

In there a clause reported 'Description' with a blank textbox aside, which I understood as the Description column in the Profile Questionnaire Setup window where the classification button is, but that didn't match with the first clause, 'Code' with 'CLIE' aside, which I could't find in the Profile Questionnaire Setup window, neither going through the Choose columns ...

I judt didn't understand till I realized everything was referring to the PROFILE QUESTIONNAIRES window !! The clauses don't refer to the Profile Questionnaire Setup as a normal person like me would understand it, where you would highlight a question to update and then hit the upd.class. button !! They refer to two windows back !!

But enough with it, by then I had understood.

So, to make the story short I wrote down the numbers in the No. of Contacts column of the prof.quest.setup  window and then I hit the upd.class. button, and there I was: some of those numbers changed, sign that what you told me, Paul, is correct.

    Duly noted.

Gigantic thanks to you, Paul, because you not only answered this question, but you also routed me onto a lead to answer my last question on this forum, 'how do filters for segments work ?'. I haven't elaborated it enough yet, but I'm about to finish it, and then I'll post the answer.

Many thanks again, Paul. Precious was your help !
