Project and Accounting Module and WBS query

Hello Dears,

I've few questions about Project and Accounting Module.

we have few projects internally and we need only to use and apply the WBS to manage and track the projects and tasks, do we need to create project contract and project quotation?

also, I've created a test project and I want to create for it WBS but I receive this issues 'Activities cannot be created when the number sequence for the hierarchy ID is set to Manual. Change the number sequence value on the Number sequence references form.' do you know why?

Lastly, do you know any good examples that i can follow? i found on YouTube but perhaps you guys know something special.

Hi Salshaw749,

If you have an internal type of project, then the project contract and quotation are not applicable. The project contract and quotations are used for external projects.

Related to the number sequence, there are some background tables filled to generate a hierarchy for the activities; even when all WBS lines are on one level. This is requiring the number sequences for hierarchies and activities to be set up to draw new numbers automatically instead of manual.

Your last question is not clear. What scenarios do you need to cover with project management?

Hi salshaw749,

You don't need to create Quotation and Contract for Internal Project.

You can create direct project from Project List page.

To remove this issue you need to configure Project Parameters.

Not sure of You Tube but you can check demo environment (Legal Entity : USSI) for self learning with Microsoft Docs.

based on the suggestions, I've played around with the configurations in the module.

Anyhow, i found this tab (Sort subprojects hierarchy by Project ID) , by clicking on (Project and Accounting Module>Periodic>Project management>Sort subprojects hierarchy by Project ID).

once i click the option, there's a pop-up saying (

Perform subprojects hierarchy grid sorting by Project ID across all companies

)

but i don't understand what dose that mean, do you know? i google it but i didn't found an explanation.

PROBLEM

Customer have an issue with the feature ‘Enable project grid to improve performance when subprojects exist’ which changes the hierarchy tree to a grid view when subprojects exist.

Unfortunately, in the grid view the sorting of the subprojects is not done by the projectId like it was done in the tree view, but is rather sorted by the RecId.

DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE

Introduced a batch job to update subprojects hierarchy grid in correct sorting order for the projects which got imported along with subprojects in random order from excel sheet.
