AX 2012 R3 sales forecasting

I have a scenario where the customer needs to be able to forecast sales based on the following two scenarios:

  • Forecast per product or product group per seller
  • Forecast per customer per seller

I cannot find any easy solution to these scenarios. Any suggestions?

I am preferably looking for standard AX R3 functionality to cover this.

I was thinking of maybe using Project functionality?

well, I am not sure about if existing functionality.

I got chance, to work for a project where it was asked to show Forecast and/or Trend. For that project it was about Forecast/Trend of Inventory-Item Usage.

If you need any help regarding development of such solution, I can share my work, which provides full details about mathematical formulas and technically how to do that.

Meanwhile, lets wait for any replies, if there can be anything using standard AX.

Also I would like to add one point which just came to my mind that we need here "Forecasting of Sales"

It is not must for a sales order to be linked with Project. A 'sale' can be independent also, i.e independent of any project.

So, in my opinion considering Projects, can be little different than our needed results. Our focus could be Sale Orders (All orders except open orders), we can get list of all transactions from inventory for sold items. Next point, sales can be non-inventory items also, such as sales by Free Text Invoice, so that can also be a considerable point. At end all sales is combined in Customer Invoice Journal, which may be a common point to start thinking about forecast.

Thank you for the input Sohaib.

Anyone have any suggestions on using standard functionality to accomplish this?
