How to Implement a Drop-down Menu in an SSRS Report Dialog

I need to present users with a drop-down menu of choices for inventory selections in an SSRS report dialog. They need to be able to choose between Excess Inventory, Non-Excess Inventory, and All Inventory.

I have attempted to implement this using an Enum--which does present the user with a drop-down menu, but the report issues a "parameter is missing a value" error when I attempt to run it. If I change the parameter data type to Integer in SSRS, it issues an "invalid report parameter" message.

So what else might I need to do here? Or is it just not possible to implement a drop-down menu in an AX/SSRS report dialog?

Or am I just not approaching this in the right way?

    Hi Steve,

An enum should work. Are you building a new report or updating an existing one?

The error you are seeing could be due to cached values in AOS/SSRS. Clear usage data for the report (or clear all usage data if you are not sure) before trying. If the error still appears, also restart AOS and SSRS.

    P.S. I assume you are working on AX2012 R2.

Make your parameter optional and do everything to clear your old report cache (start with redeployment, then delete and redeployment, then SSRS restart , then AOS restart.) . For a fixed number of drop down option Enum should work just fine. For a generic lookup or custom lookup you may want to explore UI builder classes
