How to move Morphx version controlled Ax 2009 system to TFS?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

Is it possible to move/migrate an existing Morphx version controlled AX system to TFS.

We found out that the Morphx VCS stores version history  in these tables -SysVersionControlMorphXLockTable, SysVersionControlMorphXRevisionTable, SysVersionControlMorphXItemTable.

Where does TFS stores object versions?

And is there any way of shifting the Ax system from Morphx to TFS.

If anybody has any idea or done this before, please let us know.

Thanks in Advance.

Neeharika

I know this is an old thread, but I actually wrote a job to do what the original poster is asking for.

    Hi all,

Out of the box, we don't have anything to do this.  I looked at the codeplex site, and you might be able to use the above mentioned tool to do something.  However, it is not something that we would support.

The TFS Inregration platform seems to have support for hydrating VCS with history from another system. It may be overkill though.

There is no support for moving objects from MorphX VCS to TFS including their history.

Without the object history, it is obviously straightforward, as it is the same as initializing a new TFS version control with the latest version.

AFAIK, there is no support in TFS to hydrate a version control with object and their history.

If you were to try it, you would need to write a tool which would extract objects from every single changelist (starting from the beginning), and then check them into TFS, thus recreating the version history.

    Thanks,

    Jan

I need to add hear that when we move the system from Morphx VCS to TFS,the version history of AX objects sshould be intact.

I mean when its moved to TFS,objects should show their previous history also.

    Is this possible?
