Batch Number Allocation on Product Receipt

Hi.  We have stock which has been attributed with a "Batch" tracking dimension  group.  As such, AX allocates a batch number to stock on receipt.   We have a scenario where a purchase order has been raised with (say) two line for the same stock because we have a different delivery date for each line-qty.   If a supplier sends the qty for both lines at the one time and we receive them in AX, AX allocates two batch numbers to the receipt - one for each purchase line.     Our preference, is for a single batch number for each receipt.     Is there some way in AX2012 R2 other than consolidate the purchase lines, to specify the allocation of a single batch number for this scenario?   How does AX2012 R3 handle this scenario?

Assigning the same batch number (while registering the inventory) to both the purchase lines is not an option for you?

Hi. I don't mean the manufacturer batch number.  The AX batch number is assigned automatically using a number sequence.

Batch number (Tracking Dimension) is inventory dimension of the item. Its property of each item to have separate batch number. If you want to track the purchase per batch number then use vendor batch number in product receipt form. It will give you idea of purchase batch number.

    Hi James,

I believe, automatic batch numbers will be generated per transaction. Two purchase lines = Two transactions = Two batch numbers.

In such case, as one option you need to register the first purchase line, copy/note the batch number from it and assign manually on the other purchase order lines and another option seems to be the customization.
