I am pretty new to events functionality, but can someone guide me on how to write a email template and send email invitations to a group of existing dynamics contacts for specific events? So, once the email is sent on the event record I can see the contacts invited?

You can create one segment and use it in the customer journey to send email invitations:
1.Create marketing email message that includes an event element in its design:

Adding one button linked to the specific event:
