I am trying to upgrade from GP2016 to GP2018R2 and I am getting the following error in the duinstall.log. According to the upgrade path I need to be on 16.00.0788. The databases are at 16.00.0814. What version of GP2016 do I need to be on in order to upgrade?

The upgrade path from GP 2016 past version .0788 is to go directly to GP 18.2. There is no upgrade path from versions .0814 or newer to GP 2018. This is because this is a year-end update that corresponds to a Year End update in GP 2018 that included 18.2.
This is noted with the simple removal of the "or higher" on versions 16.0.0716 or newer, as only the specific paths mentioned work.

So, to keep it simple, skip GP 2018 and go directly to GP 18.2:

Hi Justin - so I just installed 18.2.1013 and I am getting this error message again. Is this the correct version of 18.2 for me to upgrade to?
Hi Justin - I just referenced your link and downloaded the appropriate service pack for GP2018.2. The upgrade is running. Thanks fo ryour help!

I'm getting the same issue... I read that I needed the July SP installed.. did that
Same error .. then I installed the March 2020 SP MicrosoftDynamicsGP18-KB4536496-ENU .. same error
Originally I had installed the Dec 2020 SP c/w tax table updates ... but after reading this I uninstalled and started over
Doesn't seem to matter what SP I find for GP 2018 it doesn't want me to upgrade.
