If you are member of the Microsoft AX Development or Product Marketing Team I would like you to contact me/ us. To be honest I do not even believe your Microsoft CRM Parature or Microsoft Social Media Connector even spotted my recent and in particular this post. But SAP did spot other posts and called me to talk about their SAP ByDesign solution which we did not purchase eventually after a scope. Basically they say that as an IT manager I made the wrong decision. So for that call from them, I give you this post so we are both wrong and maybe your PM team will start scratching their heads on why this post is there now...a short story..
We have a whole bunch of unhappy internal users complaining about AX, our implementation partner and Microsoft.
The situation is that we are 4 months live now and encounter tons of impractical situations that costs us a second or third significant investment in consultancy hours to have them fixed.
As a customer I found it completely ridiculous that Microsoft does not come standard with some practical working functionality? It looks they have quite a bunch of theoretic product manager and developers who are not aware of a practical operation.
As a sound example: the WHS solution gives us the most pain in our organization. We are on CU10 now, but still it is impractical and missing tons of basic features. The most prominent is the fact that the mobile scanner layout does not fit on any regular scanner device of Motorola/ Zebra or Datalogic. The 320x240/640x480 are normal screen sizes for mobile workers. But your spec them on 7" displays (basically iPADs..do you use Apple in your development team???). 7 inch is for fork trucks...not for workers..or maybe we should give them an iPad? We also have negative work...so instead of picking 5 items from a stock location, the worker has to bring 5??? We already invested in 5 customer source issues for serious problems in our operation that we were unable to delivery to our customers...even more we even over delivered and now we need to recount stock for a second time already. Any idea of these costs and image/ reputation damaged and laughing customers getting more items than ordered?
We still have no good solution for our scanners and what scanners to choose since in every release the menus get longer and wider and that still does not fit. I estimate we wasted already 15-20K on this matter and still need consultancy hours to have this done..and replace all scanners..and then the maintenance costs step in on the software upgrades. Again cash/ money for the consultants is what we as a customer feel.
But moreover, employees in our company feel that Microsoft and its partner/ consultants enrich themselves with help of Microsoft or incompetency that they do not have the knowledge right out of the pocket. On a lot of issues I do certainly agree with them. I do not understand that you spend so much money on R&D and product development with the result that our company cannot even run a proper warehouse operation. Starting with the scanners...
