I am having a problem with receipting PO's linked to Production Orders, The following error keeps coming up

I try enter a qty against "Qty to Receive" on the PO and it gives me the following message "Warehouse Receive is required"

I then try create a warehouse Receipt and it gives me the following message

"There are no Warehouse Receipt lines created"

I have used the sub contract worksheet to link the PO and Prodcution Order.

I have made sure the sub contract line is the last operation line on the routing.

I need help

Craig

    Good afternoon Craig.

With subcontracted orders you are not really receiving anything into inventory. You are subcontracting work to be done on an item and adding value to the item and not quantity. In other words, Subcontractors and Manufacturing involve Capacity, which constitutes time added through a routing, and does not by nature involve the product handling. Subcontracting was never integrated into Warehousing within base NAV.

The workaround we’ve given in the past to get past the issue you are experienceing is to delete the Location Code on the purchase order line for the subcontractor and post the receipt manually. The key additional setup where Manufacturing is concerned is that the Subcontractor Routing Operation step must not be the last routing step. The reason is that because the Output will be posted with the final routing step, and we are deleting the Location Code, we must make sure that the final Routing Step records the Output to Location Code instead of "blank". So, you have to enter an extra process operation to the Routing, such as a quality check, to make sure that you have a last operation to post the actual output Location Code.

Since I am not sure what your locations warehouse setup is(whether it's full WMS where directed&putaway and pick is marked OR you only have warehouse receipt marked), then the kb article 2272171 that is available on customersource from a prior private hotfix may not apply. However, I still wanted to mention this to you.

Beyond this, due to the nature and/or complexity of this issue it would best be served to work directly with a Microsoft Technician to further assist you. I would recommend to submit an eSupport Request using the following link:

    http://support.microsoft.com/

However, I will leave this thread open so that other individuals may respond, but if you would like a Microsoft Technician to assist you, please click on the link above to create a support request.

    Thank you,

    Jill

    Hi Craig,

I would recomend you to go to an expirenced consultant to help you finetune the NAV workflow in both the manufacturing and Warehouse area.

My expirence tells me that neither of these areas works out of the box and by trying to manage this through manuals/online help will not lead you anywhere.

    Good Luck, Henrik
