How to call Web API from a custom channel using a plugin?

I want to extend my customer journey using a custom channel that is able to call Web API through a plugin that is also able to handle errors.

Can you help me by posting complete examples (from creating the tile in the journey pipeline to building the plugin that calls the API, with token request and error handling)?

I would be very grateful! :-)

    Hi, Simone

Here are two articles about how to create a Custom Tile in a Customer Journey and how to trigger it on creation of Custom Channel Activity with a flow in practice.

    community.dynamics.com/.../custom-touch-point-custom-tile-in-customer-journey-in-less-than-10-minutes

    community.dynamics.com/.../firetext-sms-

This is a relatively complete example. And flow can be used to achieve the same effect as plug-in.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Nya

RE: How to call Web API from a custom channel using a plugin?

I followed all your steps and was able to set up a custom channel within a customer journey, which starts a Power Automate stream that makes HTTP calls. Thank you very much for the suggestions, very useful and precise.

I also found this article useful:

    www.cupofdev.com/.../

But I am unable to do two things:

    1) Have custom channel activity appear as an interaction on the contact record. I have set up a workflow same as the one in the example, but the interactions are not tracked in the contact details.

    2) I don't understand how to intercept responses ("Sent", "Delivered", "Keyword match") in the journey. How do I get this information? From the Power Automate stream?

In the journey I added some "if" tiles, but I don't understand in which Dynamics record I have to save the status coming from the Power Automate flow gateway, to be then processed by the journey's "If" tiles.

I would be very grateful if you could help me with this. Thanks so much!

    Simone
