Access to edit specific fields in project categories

I am trying to give a security role access to edit the Cost field (highlighted in the first screenshot)

I have a test role which only consist of the display menu item ProjCategory. In the data source, I have granted full access to ProjPosting_CostAccount.

When I only granted Read to ProjCategory, I was not able to edit the Cost field. Therefore I added Update, which worked.

However, when I added Update to ProjCategory, other fields became editable (as you can see in the first screenshot)

How can I solely grant access to the Cost field, while not adding access to edit any other fields?
I have the same question (0)

    Hi Gaute,

You make two additional changes to your current configuration to achieve your requirement.

    1. Add the data source ProjCategory and set read access to Grant and update to Deny.
    2. Add the data source CategoryTable, have all access as unset. Then add three fields as shown in the screenshot and set read access to Grand and Update to Deny.
Initially, I tried setting up the CategoryTable in the same way as the ProjCategory, but then the result was that the Cost account was also read-only. For that reason, you can go a level deeper and manage it with field permissions.

Thanks Andre. I just tested, and this work.

However, some users have an additional security role which grants full access to edit the project categories, in addition to the current security role which should only get access to edit the Cost field.

If I add Deny permission, this will impact the access of those users who have both roles.

The first security role is for accounting managers, while the other is an admin role, which grants extended access for some accounting managers.

Is there a way to only grant access to the Cost field, without using Deny permission?

    Hi Gaute,

I was not able to get the same result without using the Deny permission. I would in this case suggest trying to avoid adding the role with denial of permissions to the users if they would need full access to the categories. What is the reason a person would need both these roles? The security design should be implemented a bit different to achieve your requirement.
