Management Report Links to Reports for Multiple Columns

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

I have successfully linked a management reporter report to a cell in a separate report but I have been unable to add an additional column.  For instance I have a Month and a YTD column and on the same line I want to bring in a total from a separate report.  I am able to bring in one column or the other but I haven't been able to bring in two columns on the same line.

Thanks!

    Hi Jim silver,

Can you elaborate on your question and possibly provide some screenshots of what you have setup so far? I did not fully get your issue from the description above.

    Thanks,

    Ludwig

Thanks, Ludwig, I will attempt to explain better with screen shots.

Below is the Excel download of the file from which I want to pull information. I want to pull line 27, columns B & C, into a different report.

I created a Row Definition file for the receiving file:

...and set up the link columns:

When I run the report I am only bringing in one column, column B in the example below:

Please advise on how I can link both B & C columns for the source file.

    Thanks!

It looks like my screen prints are not visible in my response.  Please advise if I should send by email.

    Hello Jim,

I believe that the issue is in your column definitions.

Please have a look at the following site that describes two possibilities for integrating Excel data into MR:

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

    Thanks, Ludwig,

The source file is really an excel download of a Management Reporter Report so that I can get the cell references, not a standalone Excel file.

I am trying to learn how to link one management reporter report to another management reporter report but with multiple columns on the same line....all of the training videos I have seen only demonstrate bringing in one column.

Hello Jim, ok but have you defined in your columns that they are WKS columns? If your Excel comes from another MR report and you want to links specific cells of that report to another one you could alternatively make use of the MR report linkage functionality. Some information on the latter can be found here blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../management-reporter-advanced-reporting-scenarios-and-features

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

Hello Ludwig, the example you provided is exactly how I have it set up in my example.  The issue is that the demo is similar to all other trainings I have viewed in that they only are showing how to link to one column.  In the example they show I would want to link also to column C or D in her Detailed Income Statement report.  Thoughts?

Ludwig, thanks for the help!  One solution that works was found in your original suggestion on Excel linking.  The solution is to use the following format in the row definition:

@wks(b=b250,c=c250,d=d250)  - This allows the inclusion of the data from columns B,C & D in the same row of the report.

    Thanks!!
