What is the replacement for LedgerBalancesTrans Table (AX2009) in AX2012

Hi, We have an Interface which is using LedgerBalanceTrans in AX2009 and we notice that this table is missing in AX2012. Can any one share what is the replacement for LedgerBalanceTrans in AX2012?

Hi Matt,

The balances in AX2012 are stored in the table DimensionFocusBalance.

Hi Andre,

I use legacyID2Name to find the LedgerBalanceTrans' replacement in AX2012 but it return nothing. This means it is without any replacement table in AX2012.

Then, I check my AX2012 and this table (dimensionFocusBalance) is empty records. Thus, May I know how the system populate the data into this table?

Kindly advise.

Hi Matt,

In the GL setup you have to create Financial dimension sets. Per set you need to initialize balances. Then the updates can be performed with a periodic batch job or automatically when you open the Main accounts or Trial balance list page.

Also when you run the report Trial balance, the balances are updated.

Note that the automatic option only updates the dimension sets which are used on the form or report.

MainAccount keeps the main accounts

GeneralJournalEntry Keeps Ledger transactions

GeneralJournalAccountEntry Keeps Ledger transactions

SubledgerJournalEntry keeps sub Ledger transactions (Like sales/purch invoice etc.)

SubledgerJournalAccountEntry keeps sub Ledger transactions (Like sales/purch invoice etc.)

DimensionAttributeValueCombination Keeps the combination of main accounts and dimensions

Hello, Andre! I have a couple of questions concerning the table DimensionFocusBalance.

1. Could you please tell me, what is the reason of fulfilling the table DimensionFocusBalance for our company? We are now in the process of migrating of data from DAX2009 to DAX2012 and this table is empty now. As far as I see, all the reports and inquiries can work with that table being empty. Besides the updating of this table takes a lot of truble.

2. Why the updating of this table is no longer automatical as it was in the previous versions of DAX 2012 and as it was in DAX 2009 (LedgerBalanceTrans)?
