Populate Generaljournalaccountentry.Text Field on posting a Fee Journal

Hi All,

On posting a fee journal from project management and accounting i want to flow the description in generaljournalaccountentry.text field, i tried debugging the process but i am not finding any correct place to do my logic, have anyone done anything similar like this please let me know.

I know this this is an old thread but I hope that I can help someone

please look into class ProjPost->PostCost

if it's AX then search for ledgerVoucherTransObject.parmText() and change it

if it's D365 FO then extend ProjTransRevenueJournal.txt and put your logic there

Any Suggestions? Has someone did anything like this?

In case of posting the fee journal it only check the default description set in General Ledger > Defaut Description, If it finds it then it populates that text in generaljournalaccountentry and if it not finds then it return blanks and there is no scope where i can directly take the description value from prjjournaltrans here? Can we do it? i want text from projjournaltrans instead of static text from default description from general ledger.

Can Anyone suggest something here?

Two main classes which got hit here is LedgerVoucherObject and LedgerVoucherTransObject, In Case of Fee journal it is taking the text field in LedgerPostingTransactionTmp as blank due to which it is also going blank in generaljournalaccountentry.text field but in case of expensejournal it is coming and is also going in generaljournalaccountentry.text field.

Thanks for your response.

We are posting the fee journal from f&o itself so i dnt think so business events comes in the picture here. simply we are posting a fee journal and on posting values are also going in generaljournalaccountentry table and i want to map description field of projjournaltrans with generaljournalaccountry.Text field.

Does the expense journal posting process trigger any workflows or business events? If so, you can refer to this official documentation: Business events overview - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn. Business events provide a mechanism that lets external systems receive notifications from finance and operations apps. In this way, business actions can be performed in response to the business events. Business events occur when a business process is run. During a business process, users who participate in it perform business actions to complete the tasks that make up the business process.
