GL Balance Sheet Currency Revaluation

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by

I am running the GL revaluation from 1/1 to current. I enter a new entry to a new balance sheet account in a foreign currency (USD). I run the revaluation and the process only picks up accounts that have revalued in the past, not my new account. Accounting currency = GBP and reporting currency = USD. Whatever I do, the account is not included. The account type = Asset. The currency on the account is not USD as it could have multiple currencies.

Any ideas why? Tech support has not been very helpful.

    Hi Joanne,

On the main account details, there is a field called Foreign currency revaluation. Check if this has been enabled; otherwise it will skip this main account. You can find it on the General tab, field group Administration.

Thanks. That worked for my new account. We have another account, properly marked that was revalued in March. When we run the revaluation process for a later month the balance is not included. What should happen for balance accounts that have activity in one month . Shouldn't the process update the balance due to the change in rate?

Hello JoanneMah, Can you explain the issue in more detail? You got a currency revaluation in March but not in April. Is that right? Can you check the transaction and whether it has been recorded in foreign currency and whether the foreign exchange rate changed within the last month? Ludwig

Yes that is true. I am seeing that something is wrong with the journal name setup as I can't reproduce it using a different journal . Yes I have monthly exchange rates. Have you ever used the "assign voucher numbers during posting setting"? I never have but this one particular journal is set up that way.

    Hello JoanneMah,

I have used the assign voucher numbers during posting setting before but have not come across a situation where it case a problem with foreign currency revaluations.

Might a system-modification that has been made in your system be responsible for this?

Can this be caused by some database settings made by your system admins that the main accounts selected by the revaluation process are not refreshed / identified? I have seen some system admins doing something similar to increase system performance. Maybe you experience a similar issue - so problably try to talk them.

What might help also is if you check whether a filter or something that might not have been done consciously caused the Problem. Probably try to check your usage data and delete the ones related to the currency revaluation form.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

    Hi Joanne,

Please keep in mind that you now have asked different questions in one thread. This might be confusing for others and also the persons who try to help you.

    Your initial problem was answered.

Now you have another account with a problem that worked before. I don't know which postings were done and at what moment. It would be useful to provide more details on the history of this account. The question is if AX finds a balance to revaluate or not...
