Ax2012R2 Financial cost amount on location

Hello

If we look at the on hand picture with location as a dimension, we have some items were we have 0 in physically on hand, 0 in physical cost amount but an amount in financial cost amount.

This is if we look at the location level. If we switch to only look at the warehouse level, we have values on all three. (1 in physical amount,100 in physical value and 100 financial cost amount)

It seems like the cost amount is registered on another location than the physical amount.

This means that we get a wrong picture if we look at location level but a correct value in total if we look at warehouse level. Should Ax behave like this? What is the reason? We run weighted average as inventory method.

Best Regards

Anna Grevsjö

    Hi Anna,

On the Storage dimension group for that Item, is 'Financial inventory' ticked for the 'Location' dimension?

Have you run Inventory close since the item was moved out of the location (or sold, or whatever)?

    Hello!

Thank you very much for the answer! Only physical inventory is ticked. What does that mean, is the issue solved simply by ticking this box?Probably I should have no open transactions and close the inventory first, right? Multiple items are connected to this storage group so I guess they will affected as well...

    Hi Anna,

No! Don't tick 'Financial inventory' on Location - I just wanted to know about your setup.

Ticking 'Financial inventory' means you want AX to track costs at this dimension. I have never seen a scenario where it was appropriate for an item's running average cost to be different because it was in a different location.

I believe you would only need to do an inventory close to clear an example, but of course a new example may appear later. I think the point is that this is not normally a problem. When using the On hand inquiry to look at inventory costs, you would normally use 'Dimension display' to enable only the dimensions which have Financial inventory ticked.

    Hello,

Thank you , now we understand how to look at this. Location should not be ticked for us on the storage dimension, we have to look at the warehouse level instead. Thanks for the help!
