Available to promise (ATP) and MRP

we would like to use AX functionality to perform ”Available to Promise” when placing Sales Orders. Currently we have long leadtime on SO’s because of lack of capacity in production, and Customer Service (CS) don’t know when they can confirm SO’s.

1-What are pros and cons when using AX functionalities in CS
2-What is required in Production (planning) when using the function
3-Is it an issue that we use “Product configurator” when creating orders
4-At what level do you recommend to create sales forecast with this set up, Sellable item, Produced item or lower level

1-We produce to order, so we create PO’s based on SO’s. At lower levels we use AX Kanban Production.
2-How will this effect our MRP
3-Is it possible to get a good overview of production with this set up
4-Will Planed Purchase Orders be effected by this set up?

would appreciate any inputs/advice you might have on this.
