LCS Code Upgrade from AX 2012 to Dynamics 365 for Operations Error - Submitted zip file is too small for a zipped model store file, Please verify that the submitted zip file contains model store file

Hi,

We have created a new modelstore and we have like 5 custom models which we plan to run through the LCS Code Upgrade Utlity and we receive the following error, once the file is processed. Our modelstore file in zip format is approximately 540 KB

And, the error I get is  "Submitted zip file is too small for a zipped model store file, Please verify that the submitted zip file contains model store file"

The idea is we want to do delta upgrade runs from LCS for our models from AX 2012 to D365FO. 7762.1.PNG

Anybody faced this issue before? Appreciate your inputs.

Cheers,

Dilip

    Hi Dilip,

the code upgrade expects the model STORE, not just one model. Considering the model store database is 3-5GB or so, even a compressed export should be still around the gigabytes.

    Hi Joris,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I do understand the modelstore is required by the code upgrade tool. Hence, I created a new model store with just  5

of our custom models in it, and then exported a modelstore and uploaded to LCS.

So technically, it's still the modelstore, but the size is small, I think there are some rules in the LCS Code upgrade tool which is restricting the conversion to the corresponding 365FO models.

Many customers out there would have this requirement where they want to do delta code upgrades for the things which they want to bring as a separate model into 365FO. which will be a challenge if we have the size limitation.

I would have loved to see the code upgrade tool allowing us to upgrade individual models as well. This feature would have been really handy while doing multiple iterations of code upgrade.

    Cheers,

    Dilip

The standard model store if i recall correctly is around 3-5GB database. Even compressed I don't see how you can end up with a 540KB file?
