How to populate AxDW database

Hi,

I was wondering how to populate AxDW database. For example, I need some sales order and sales line records populated to AxDW so that I can develop a Power BI report on top of this.

You can't publish tables to AxDW, instead you publish Aggregate Measurements.

You can find the existing measurements in System administration - Setup - Entity store.

One of them is "Sales Cube", perhaps you can Refresh that and see if it's good for your report.

Hi Yuji.

The AxDW database is the built in entity store. You can transfer the data with the "Refresh" button in "System administration" >

"Setup" > "Entity Store" using the "Sales cube"

Does it mean if I choose Power BI Embedded, I have to use Entity Store, and not BYOD?

For PowerBi embedded, Entity store is to be used, not Byod.

AXDW is internal to Microsoft and called as entity store

you can only publish data and create new aggregated entities and embedded Power BI to leverage data from it

Now you can take it out to ADL Azure Data Lake and then have better control

BYOD , can go to both Azure SQL as we as ADL

With new feature coming in April you should be able to export your tables to ADLS grn 2 and do your reporting on it. Below links says GA is going to be in April.

I'm new here to the Microsoft D365 Development arena and experiencing similar issues.

I understand the AXDW DB contains the summarized data and in order to do so you can go to System Administration - Setup - Entity Store.

Where can you go to see what gets executed to populated the AXDW tables? We are on a managed service here and don't have access to the underlying SQL database - I'm trying to determine what my options are here. If it's a BYOD option - how can I find the code to replicate?

I faced an issue where my entity store - aggregate measure were not refreshing, I clicked on the refresh button (system admin - entity store - aggregate measures), but it doesn't refresh.

I go to Batch Jobs and find the batch job name 'Full reset' and change its status to execution. This batch job refreshes the entity store so once the batch job is in execution, the entity store is refreshed.

When the aggregate measure is refreshed, the AxDW populates.
