Dear All,

I have an implementation with multiple site, geographically different. These sites need to have access to Dynamics AX. We used to do it via remote, either VPN or Citrix, but do we have other ways to do it?

Need your insights on this.

Thank you,

Lyka

    Hi Lyka,

As your sites will live in geogrphically different regions you have to have some ways to communicate with AOS(s) from your clients. Other possible ways could be terminal services, Cloud and Web (enterprise Portal) in conjuction of what you have already listed.

It all depends on what modules you are going to implement and which version of AX it would be. For example; if you your user is only required to create purchase orders, submitting timesheets you can use Enterprise portal.

If you can share more information about modules and user requirements then we will be able to guide you more.

    Dear Faisal,

Thanks for the response. We're currently using AX 2012 R3 for Retail.

Eventhough the actual purchasing and transfer orders happen on HO, I've got warehouses from different regions. These warehouses need to have access for item arrivals and shipments. I'm not sure but I don't think enterprise portal will help on this one.

Another thing, for my retail store, the end of day process for the roles Retail Operations Manager, Retail Store Manager and Retail Warehouse Clerk needs to have access on the Retail + Inventory module of AX. If I got a hundred stores, I don't think using remote connection is a good idea.

    Any insights?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Lyka,

Thanks for your details and yes Enterprise Portal will not be enough in your case.

The only other option I can think of is terminal services, sorry I don't have much idea about warehouse module so stay tuned here. Someone will definitely suggest you better way.

Citrix is good for different remote locations.

Hi Lyka Tasis, As Faisal & Manikumar suggested, you can consider Terminal service / Citirx  to access AX for Warehouse related requirements (Arrivals and Shipment). Can you please let me know what exactly Retail Store Manager and Warehouse clerk are going to perform in Inventory module...?  In General, these two roles, will receive the material shipped by HQ which can be handled in POS itself
