Hello,

I have moving the GP9 to GP 2013R everything was OK, until I have logged in  and I am getting the listed error

Store procedure sm_CleanUpFilesBeforeLoging.

I took a backup from our SQL 2005 and placed into a share file, and I use the SQL 2012 studio management to restore the backup.

I have the backup restored perfect because I run the query but when I opened the system it shows the DBMS 8144 error

However, the ACTIVITY in DYNAMCIS is empty

Please help

From the error logs you posted, it is clear that you already installed the GP2013 client ... so my question is : Did you applied first the service pack to get your GP 9.0 to the proper version before trying to upgrade ? you cannot take shortcuts when it comes to upgrades. You first need to have a fully working GP 9.0 that is on the proper version required to go to an upper level (be it 2010 or 2013).

RE: MOVING FROM GP9 TO GP2013

    OK,

But that doesn't tell us what version of GP 9.x.xxxx you were on before starting the upgrade.. This is important, because it defines how you can actually go to2013.. There is no direct path from 9.x to 2013.

    Dynamics GP 9.0/SQL 2000/Windows 2003 to Dynamics GP 2013/SQL 2012/Windows 2012
    1. The first step depends on the version of GP 9 you are on. If you are on 9.00.0371 or later you can upgrade directly to GP 2010, however if you are not then you need to upgrade to 9.00.0371. Click HERE to go to the GP 9.0 Download Page to grab the required patch.  If you are on a build later than 9.00.371 your upgrade paths may vary. Please visit the Upgrade Hot Topic page

    2. Once you are on 9.00.0371 or later you will want to move your databases to SQL 2012 on Windows 2012. Refer to KB 878449 for move steps.
    3. Next you can upgrade directly to any build of GP 2010, I would recommend GP 2010 SP 3 (11.00.2044) as this will allow you to upgrade to any build of GP 2013. Click HERE to go to the GP 2010 Download Page to grab the required patch.
    4. Finally you will be able to upgrade to any specific build of GP 2013.

Yes I set up a new server 2012, but first I used 2008 and then finished in 2012., so what I did is just restore a backup to the 2012 server,

    Thanks

RE: MOVING FROM GP9 TO GP2013

    Hi Pat,

You don't says much about how you moved your GP9 DB to 2013... Have you setup a new SQL server ? if so what's the version on the new server ?

There is a KB article from Microsoft on the whole process. You should follow exactly the steps :

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/878449

You don't say much about your exact GP 9.0 version.. but here's another link to the upgrade paths available to GP2013: https://community.dynamics.com/gp/b/dynamicsgp/archive/2013/04/23/microsoft-dynamics-gp-2013-upgrade-paths-_2d00_-gp_2c00_-windows_2c00_-sql-server

    Hope this helps

RE: MOVING FROM GP9 TO GP2013

Have you already set configured the new server appropriately for DB owners?

Please review the kb below for your versions GP.

Hopefully you're able to resolve this issue with the kb below.
