We need to hold a particular item in the sale order, there by while running the MRP the planned orders will not be generating for the particular item in the sale order

You could change the components mrp policy to not mrp plan.
For a BOM you can also turn off mrp
However you need to remember to turn those back on and this will affect all orders.
Otherwise set the sales line dat e e.g. 2 years into the future and run your mrp coverage fence and explosion fences for a shorter period e.g 3 months ahead so it ignores future demand.
