Dynamics GP 2016 R2 Web Client Access

We are using Dynamics GP 2016 R2. We have a Domain Server on a separate machine and and GP SERVER with SQL on a separate machine. I've installed GP Web Client by following this article: https://brightpointinfotech.com/web-client-installation-microsoft-dynamics-gp-2016/ and WindowsAuthentication is ON. Created 2 Local Groups as well as discussed in the mentioned article i.e,. GPWebClientUsers and GPWebCientAdmin - I created User ID in GP with Checkbox ON [Web Client User Only] with User Type Full and provided the compulsory rights as well. But unable to Login from Web Chrome/Edge etc.

Now I am using Windows User ID with Windows Password to login in to GP Web Client (Chrome/Edge) and getting Error:

You are not allowed to use Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Please sign out and sign in with an authorized account.

Correlation ID: 662be62e-d123-4965-8b1e-17f30c1e9dca

----------------------------------------

If I use GP USER ID - Checkbox ON for - web client user only (no sql server account) associated with Active Directory User ID.

then it says : Invalid user name or password.

-----------------------------------------

If I use domain\user.id then it gives me Error

A problem occurred creating a session.

Please try again later or contact your administrator.

Correlation ID: 44b436c8-b09f-41cd-8885-d750138e88df

----------------------------------

So, I am confused on following things:

1. which User ID I'll use to login to GP Web Client?

2. How and what permissions have to give to GPWebClientUsers and GPWebClientAdmin Groups?

3. Do I need to enable SQL User Authentication instead of Windows Authentication, in GP Web Components Configuration?

Furthermore, I also followed this thread and followed the steps but no success https://community.dynamics.com/gp/b/dynamicsgp/posts/gp-web-client-39-web-client-user-only-39-or-windows-authenticated-user-login-issues?CommentId=c3978cc8-aec4-4f3a-92b7-d12a2995c221 to make sure that there is no issue in installation.

Your support and replies will be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, WEB SERVICES RUNTIME was not installed. Now I've installed it by following your mentioned blog:

    https://www.azurecurve.co.uk/2016/12/hands-on-with-microsoft-dynamics-gp-2016-r2-install-web-services-runtime/

However, I am still unable to login. The error is same:

A problem occurred creating a session.

Please try again later or contact your administrator.

I am using Active Directory User Name to login on GP WEB CLIENT i.e. domain\username or username@domain

I have checked all the services and everything is running fine. Restarted the services as well.
GPWebClientUsers and GPWebClientAdmin Groups already created and respective users are added in Groups.
Self Certificate is created and binding is as per requirement.
However Certificates are not installed on Client Computers, how to do that? can you please guide me on this?
I am using Internet Explorer to login.

Any idea or helping thread will be highly appreciated?

    Hi Adeel,

Did you install the SSL certificate when you installed the GP Web Client services ? without the SSL cert the web client is not going to work reliably and you might get authentication errors like you experience.

If you did create a self-signed SSL Cert, make sure it is copied and installed over to all the client computers.

Ian Grieve's AzureCurve blog has always been a great resource to me for the GP web client :

    www.azurecurve.co.uk/.../

PS: please make sure also it works 1st with Internet Explorer (not Chrome / Edge / Firefox).. to rule out any internal security authentication processes.
