I am trying to establish what the function of the Category field is on the Miscellaneous charges form in the Transportation Management module. I have tried to find details but this field not in the AX 2012 version of the form.
My goal is to set up freight charges that are allocated to the item's landed cost. The actual charge amounts will be specified manually during routing.
What I want to understand is if the rate is specified as 100 euro but the category on the miscellaneous charge is set to 'Pcs.' for example, does it mean that a 100 euro freight charge is allocated per unit?
What is the effect of using the 'Proportional' option in this field?

Pcs – the charge amount will be multiplied by the quantity of items, applicable to auto charges of line level only. Amount = Received Quantity * Order line Pcs value rate.
Proportional – based on the quantity of each line, the charge will be added proportionally to the order. Amount =(Received quantity / Ordered quantity) * Order line proportional value rate.
